Police are appealing for witnesses following a road traffic collision in Bruntingthorpe, involving three vehicles, a car transporter, a BMW and a Ford Fiesta.

Officers were called to the scene at 4.45pm this afternoon (Tuesday 3 July), by a member of the public reporting the collision on Bruntingthorpe Road,near Lutterworth.

East Midlands Ambulance Service, Helimed and Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service also attended the scene.

The driver of the BMW, a man, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The car transporter driver sustained minor injuries and was taken to the University Hospitals of Coventry and Warwickshire for treatment.

The driver of the Ford Fiesta was uninjured in the incident.

Road closures are in place on Bruntingthorpe Road with the junction of Mill Lane, and the A5199 at the junction with Bruntingthorpe Road.

The road is expected to remain closed for around six hours to allow for an investigation of the scene and for recovery of the vehicles. Motorists are advised to seek an alternative route.

Detective Constable 1299 John Borlase, is the investigating officer, he said: “The cars were travelling towards the A5199 from Bruntingthorpe Road and the transporter lorry was driving in the opposite direction when the collision occurred.

“I would like to hear from anyone who was in the vicinity and saw the vehicles being driven beforehand or the collision itself.

“Equally, if you have Dashcam footage capturing what happened I would urge you to contact us.”
