Officers from Oadby and Wigston policing unit are appealing for the return of two stolen ornamental chimney pots.

The owner of the pots, who lives on Saffron Road, spotted that they had gone missing from the front of her house at about 1am on Thursday March 4 and immediately reported the theft to police. The last time she had seen the pots was at about 7pm the previous evening.

The pots are described as being in the shape of chimneys and painted white. There is a small strip at the bottom of each pot that has not been painted that is still terracotta coloured. Some parts on each of the pots are missing.

PC Tanya Lehane, the investigating officer, said: “These pots were bought by the victim’s late husband as a birthday present so they hold a lot of sentimental value to her.

“It may be that the suspect or suspects took the pots as an opportunity to make money or as a prank, but these pots mean a lot to the victim and she is very upset that they have gone.

“If you have any information about the theft or the current whereabouts of the pots, perhaps you have been approached by someone trying to sell them to you, then please call us and help them return them to their owner.”

Anyone with any information is asked to contact PC 4380 Tanya Lehane on Leicester (0116) 222 2222, follow the instructions to leave a message for a police officer and when prompted key in the officer’s identification number 4380.  Alternatively, contact Crimestoppers, which is free* and anonymous, on 0800 555 111.
