A woman has died after a fatal road traffic collision on the A46 last night.

Police were called at around 8.30pm on Tuesday (6 November) following a report a pedestrian had been in collision with a white Ford Ranger on the eastbound carriageway between the junction for Wanlip and Beaumont Leys.

The pedestrian, a woman in her forties, was pronounced deceased at the scene. She is yet to be formally identified.

The driver and passenger in the Ford were not injured.

The road was closed in both directions for a number of hours while emergency services were in attendance at the scene.

Detective Constable John Borlase, is the investigating officer, and is asking to anyone who may have witnessed the collision to get on touch.

He said: “I am appealing for anyone who may have seen the woman beforehand or the collision itself to please contact me. Alternatively motorists who may have dash cam footage which could assist our investigation, I would urge them to give me a call.”
