Police investigating a murder in the Highfields area of Leicester have released the name of the victim.
Mr Nazir Taj Sheikh (36) of Leicester received a stab wound following an incident in Grove Road near St Saviours Road at about 3.48pm on Monday March 8.
The victim was taken to the Leicester Royal Infirmary where he later died.
Parts of Grove Road, St Saviours Road and Frederick Road are still cordoned off today (Tuesday March 9) to allow forensic examination of the scene. Diversions are still in place in those areas.
Superintendent Craig Moore, who is leading the investigation, said: “The victim was wearing a black baseball cap, black bomber jacket and dark tracksuit bottoms at the time of the incident, I would appeal to anyone who was in the area around the time of the incident and saw the victim prior to the incident taking place to contact the police.
“The Grove Road area is quite busy, particularly around the time of the incident and I am urging members of the community to come forward with any information they believe may assist with our enquiries. We can assure you that any information we receive will be treated in the strictest of confidence.
“Did you witness the incident or do you know who may be responsible, even the smallest of details could help with our investigation.”
